Sumo Omni Review

Stay put, you're still in the right place. I know what you're thinking, "Furniture review? On GND?" Bear with me a moment and I'll try to clear up some of that confusion.

Sumo Lounge Gear, various styles and sizes of that furniture we loved so much back in the 80s, incredibly oversized bean bag furniture, only much improved and much more comfortable. Sumo actually has a pretty impressive resume and reputation, paired with their continuously expanding product line as well as their innovation, they have more than just foam filled "bags" like so many of their competitor's lacking selections. I was excited when I found out I'd be reviewing one of their products.

Why review furniture though? Most, if not all of Sumo's products can definitely fall into the "Gaming Gear" category. No game room can be complete without some sort of comfy seating arrangement. So unless you want to mount your TV to the ceiling and lay flat on your back on the floor, you're going to need something to park your butt in.

So lets take a look at Sumo's entry level bean bag, the Omni (Note, there are no actual beans, or any other type of legume in any of Sumo's impressive product line.)

Features and Specifications

When they say "super-sized beanbags," They mean it quite literally. This isn't your typical round foam filled bag you've seen in the malls and other online sources for the last few years. This is a giant 5.5' x 4.5' rectangle made from a rip-proof nylon and filled with tiny polystyrene balls. It is surprisingly light, and easy to maneuver, considering its size.

  • 5.5' x 4.5'
  • Weighs in around 18 lbs
  • "Space age" rip-proof nylon, breaths well and cleans easily
  • Filled with tiny polystyrene balls
  • Available in 10 different colors
  • Refillable
  • Priced at $149 with free shipping and a 7-10 day delivery rate

So back in February, I reviewed an extraordinary product from Sumo: the Gigantor, a premium beanbag large enough for the whole family, a replacement for a sofa. (Star Trek-obsessed household that we are, it was soon dubbed “The Tribble.”) Now Sumo has a new, portable product that also intimidates and challenges expectation Continue reading →

The Omni Reloaded isn't a bean bag -- instead, it's a polyurethane chair/backrest. It takes up a lot less room than Sumo's normal products, as you can scrunch it up and store it upright in a closet, or with the included travel bag. "Scrunching" as I call it is the name of the game, as you can pretty much contort this thing into any form you want. Continue reading →

I love my Lazy Boy couch and my double recliner, but most furniture items want you to adapt to them instead of the other way around. You can’t easily move a recliner around your home from room to room or fold it up and shove it under the bed when you don’t need it. But with the new Sumo Omni Reloaded from Sumo Lounge you can do exactly that. Continue reading →
