Large bean bag from Sumo Lounge – and I mean LARGE
A really large bean bag can be hard to find, but when it comes to bean bags, they don’t come much bigger than the ones sold by Sumo Lounge. The Sumo Omni is 4 feet x 5 feet (1.37m x 1.68m) – this is quite definitely what you would call a large bean bag!
The Sumo Omni is pillow shaped (ok, it’s a big pillow) and is made of water repellent, stain resistant ballistic nylon – tough enough to stand almost anything you throw at it. And even if what you throw at it is sticky, you can just wipe it off with a damp cloth.
Despite the strength of the material, reviewers have all remarked on how soft to the touch the covering is. Amongst others, Tech Lounge, a gamer site, gave the Sumo Omni a very favorable review, which is how I came across this product. A fair number of gamer sites have reviewed the Omni, in fact, and all the ones I’ve seen gave it the thumbs up.
Apart from gamers, the Omni is suitable for anyone on the lookout for a seat that can double up as a bed when the occasion arises (big enough for two, apparently). Having experienced “bed chairs” at their worst in my time, I can say that this would seem to be one of the better chair/bed options available.
Tech Lounge did point out that the Sumo should not be unzipped, as the contents will fly everywhere: “Even the slightest motion, say zipping up the hole I’d just created [by unzipping it], is more than enough air movement to cause a miniature synthetic snowstorm.” Having said that, the Velcro flap covering the zipper is strong enough to prevent access to the zipper by children – and even some adults.
There are 10 colors to choose from, from Pitch Black to Hot Pink, and despite the huge size, the Sumo Omni weighs in at only 18 lbs (8.16 kilos). Priced at $149 in the US, for a large bean bag that will last you for a lifetime I think that’s a pretty good price.
Sumo products are also available in both the UK and Australia.
