Sumo Omni review

I’ve been reading other bloggers websites with envy over the last year or so, constantly seeing the Sumo bean bags popping up all over the place. What did I have to do to get my own? I could have bought one of course, but they’re not cheap – and I didn’t want to splash the cash without seeing one.

Last week my prayers were answered, and my patience rewarded, when I was contacted by Sumo asking if I wanted to review the Omni. Obviously I spent a few days mulling it over (aka choosing a colour – I went for the brown). before biting his hand off.

It arrived on Monday, and it’s awesome! The postman wasn’t overjoyed at having to deliver a 4.5 foot by 5.5 foot bean bag, but that wasn’t my problem, and he’s always late anyway so he deserves to do some proper work for a change.

The bag has a wonderful build quality, it both looks and feels tough, I can see it taking a lot of punishment before having to be replaced. The cover is a rip-proof nylon, it’s not soft but is plenty comfortable, and the rugged material makes it feel more grown up – manly even – than the average bean bag.

Unfortunately the Omni is the only bag available in the UK, but in the US Sumo have a range of bean bags called the SumoSac, and they are even bigger, and more traditionally designed, than the Omni (which is shaped like a giant cushion). I am now hoping that by the time my Omni wears out that the Sacs will be released in the UK so I can get the Sumo Omnis bigger brother.

So far I have been using my Omni mostly as something to relax on whilst playing video games but Sumo suggest you can use it in a minimum of 10 different ways (examples are on the product page).

I’ve only had my Omni for a couple of days so but so far I have nothing bad to say about it. If you want a grown up bean bag then you could do a lot worse.
