A while ago, I did a video of me messing around with the Sumo Lounge Titan bean bag. I was actually supposed to do a review as well, but got so giddy with excitement over my stupid video, I forgot. Hence, the planets have aligned and a review has appeared.

 

 

First things first — the Sumo Titan is MASSIVE at 70x49x36″. After dragging the huge box from the garage into the main room, heaving it from its vacuum-packaging, and pulling the cover over its soft, squishy flesh, I was ready to cry from the almighty exertion. The Titan is big, heavy, and will likely stay wherever you put it due to your unwillingness to want to move it again.

If you have the room, however, the Titan is a pretty damn good bean bag. Large and comfortable enough to sleep on, even for a fat bastard like myself, it can double as somewhere to sit or somewhere to kip if you’ve run out of beds or you’ve got a guest who you don’t need to impress with actual furniture.

The Titan is available with a choice of two materials — corduroy and suede — with varying color options depending on your fancy. The corduroy cover comes in black, blue, purple, or red, while the suede one can be black, khaki, brown, or red. My bag of choice is black suede, and it feels comfy as well as looks nice — if a little frat-like — in the corner of my office.

Naturally, this was sent for me to gauge its use as a gaming chair, and the results are mixed. Being a bean bag, there’s no back support, so I can’t rightly recommend it for playing home consoles. However, it is a very cozy option when playing handheld devices such as a 3DS, PSP or mobile gadget. Lolling around and playing some Ocarina of Time 3D is a rather pleasant experience indeed.

At $379, the Sumo Titan is most definitely a luxury item, but it’s definitely big and durable enough to be worth the money for those that want to shell out. So far, mine has survived being used every day by a big wobbly games blogger, multiple bounce attacks from a hyperactive child, and a cat’s claims to dominance. It ought to last even the most careless slobs quite a while.

I definitely like the Sumo Titan, although I have a feeling quite a few gamers won’t want to splurge out so much cash for it. If you’ve money to burn and really want to treat yourself, then this is worth picking up for sure. I’ve gotten a lot of use out of mine as a place to play games, take work breaks, and even sleep on. Just make sure you have a lot of free space, because nothing quite prepares you for this thing’s beastly size.
