Sumo Omni Bean Bag Chair
Giant Pillow Beanbag Gaming Chair gooooo!

The Omni from Sumo (www.sumolounge.com) is easily one of the best bean bag chairs I’ve ever had a chance to put to use, especially compared to my kid days of lounging around in those cheap $20 ones you’d get at a local K-Mart, the ones that would deflate almost all the way after a month of use. I kind of hesitate to even call the Omni a beanbag chair (I suppose it’s actually called a pillow), it has more than enough malleability to it that you can conform into a variety of shapes and uses, far beyond just plopping it down in front of your TV screen for a gaming session or two.

Of course, you’re going to be paying a bit more for this than your standard pricing on like-minded furniture found at the local department store, and the Omni will set you back around $150 or so from Sumo’s website, but then again it does measure in at 4.5 ft by 5.5 ft, nearly filled with “sumo beads” that seem to be made up of some pretty stern material. I’m a fairly big guy myself, and this thing would never lose form even after a few hours of time sitting in front of the TV, and even when I’d stand up it would retain the shape I had it in during that time. It’s easy to remold, and the outer material is really durable. I’ve got a small cat that’s never been de-clawed, and she actually tried to scratch it up a bit and couldn’t make a dent, which is more than my carpet can say at least.

Also, it’s light enough to lug around the house with no problems, making it perfect for a game room chair or a make shift lounger for the living room. It’s also fairly stylish, it doesn’t have any funky looking frills or anything goofy to accessorize it with, and it comes in a pretty large array of colors depending on taste. The only real issue you might have with it is that it is pretty damn big, so it might not be idea for a dorm room situation in that it’s going to take up a lot of floor space and there’s no real way to make it more compact. Outside of that, I can’t think of a reason why someone wouldn’t want to have one of these things to lounge around in, and it’s my new favorite chair to sit around and play some games in.

If you’ve got the cash to spend, and you’re looking for a cheaper and more manageable alternative to a lounger, recliner, or something similar, then I suggest taking a look at the Omni, or one of the other chairs/beanbags that Sumo offers. There’s a few others on the site that I didn’t check out that would probably easily fit the needs of most, and I can say first hand that the material these things are made out of will easily last you for a bit, even with a little abuse applied. Of course, over time the beads will flatten out a bit, but the bags themselves are refillable with product ordered off of the site, so you’ll be able to get quite a bit of life out of the Omni. Definitely worth picking up if you’re in the market for a new game/movie chair, and I highly suggest checking them out.
