The Sumo Lounge Omni review
This seems to be a somewhat disconnected product – but bean bags are always fun and who hasn’t thought of a huge bean bag chair for the home office?
Sumo Lounge is just opening its operations in New Zealand, and sent me the Sumo Lounge Omni for a review.
The first thing we thing about bean bags is probably where to put it. Well you will have to think a lot about this, because the Sumo Lounge Omni is… gigantic. It measures 1.4m by 1.7m – a really nice mat as you can see in this photo:
That is Bella having rest on the Sumo Lounge Omni. But of course this is not a bean bag for resting only. You can have fun. Lots of fun:
The Sumo Lounge Omni is made of a “space age rip-proof nylon” according to the manufacturer. This made me a bit worried as I thought it would be rough or uncomfortablel. It was actually quite soft to touch, warm and indeed resistant: using it on the deck proved it to us – having it dragged around over rough wood deck floor by hordes of kids during a birthday party did no damage to the cover and it looks just like new.
The polystyrene foam (little white foam balls) are housed inside this resitant but smooth nylon case. To access the interior you have to rip through very thick velcro and undo a zipper. This pretty much guarantees that you won’t see thos little balls going around your lounge – or office.
It is also very well made – the multiple seams are strong and guarantee no leaks all around.
Cleaning is easy, and just a bit of of soapy water on a cloth will do the trick.
The most fun you will have is finding different ways of using it. I’ve watched movies in the lounge, read books, and just sat there talking. It’s pretty flexible and you can shape it at will.
The main Sumo Lounge site lists other products, but it seems only the Sumo Lounge Omni is available in New Zealand at the moment. If you have limited space some of their other offerings could be more suitable, but since you can pretty much change this into any shape, it’s a worth addition to your TV lounge or Home Office.
